QT Imaging has secured 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for an updated configuration of its compression-free breast imaging system, Breast Acoustic CT.
The updated 3D ultrasound tomographic scanner uses tilted transmitter geometry and is designed to improve imaging coverage of posterior breast tissue near the chest wall, according to the company.
Generating both reflection-mode and transmission-mode ultrasound data to reconstruct 3D tomographic images, the scanner also incorporates software that quantifies fibroglandular tissue volume and the ratio of fibroglandular tissue to total breast volume, the company said.
