Radiation oncology firm Sirtex Medical said that the Brazilian National Agency of Supplementary Health (ANS) has approved the use of its SIR-Spheres Y-90 resin microspheres for treatment of intermediate and advanced stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
ANS updated its List of Health Procedures and Events to recommend SIR-Spheres for use in selective internal radiation therapy, according to Sirtex. The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) initially approved SIR-Spheres for SIR-Spheres in 2014.
