The Animal Neurology Center in St. Louis has become the first healthcare institution in the U.S. to install Siemens Healthineers’ Magnetom Flow.Ace MRI platform.
Magnetom Flow.Ace is a 1.5-tesla MRI platform with a closed helium circuit and no quench pipe that covers the entire range of MR applications.
It is the first Siemens Healthineers MR scanner to be marketed for veterinary radiology as well as general radiology, the firm said.
Magnetom Flow.Ace uses only 0.7 liters of liquid helium for cooling and does not require a quench pipe for venting gaseous helium into the atmosphere during emergency shutdown, Siemens Healthineers said. The omission of the quench pipe, along with the scanner’s smaller size, reduces installation requirements and costs compared with other 1.5-tesla MR scanners.
The scanner, which deactivates energy-intensive components when not in use, uses AI-enhanced Deep Resolve image reconstruction technology to enable shorter scan times with improved image quality, the company said.
Its range of contour and dedicated MR coils is available for veterinary applications as well as a variety of human anatomies, according to Siemens.
