Siemens Healthineers and Northwestern Medicine in Chicago have entered into the first phase of a multiyear collaboration to advance innovation in imaging, theranostics, interventional radiology, and radiation oncology in the greater Chicago area.

The two organizations plan to establish a global center of excellence in theranostics and will together further develop interventional MRI and other minimally invasive procedures for cancer diagnosis and treatment, they said.

"By integrating Siemens Healthineers' advanced technologies with Northwestern Medicine's clinical expertise, we can create a future where patients benefit from faster diagnoses, more personalized treatments, and transformative outcomes across the continuum of care," said James Carr, MD, Northwestern Medicine chair of radiology in a statement.
