Prime Medical Services of Austin, TX, reported that its wholly owned subsidiary, mobile-coach manufacturer AK Specialty Vehicles of Harvey, IL, was awarded a multimillion-dollar contract by Alliance Medical of Oxfordshire, U.K.
Alliance awarded the $6.4 million contract for the design and manufacture of 13 mobile MRI units as part of its effort to fulfill a National Health Service contract to use mobile imaging to alleviate waiting lists for MRI services in the U.K. AK Specialty Vehicles said it would integrate a Siemens Medical Solutions (Malvern, PA) Symphony 1.5-tesla MRI system in each of the mobile units.
