Profound Medical, Cook Medical ink distribution deal

Toronto-based Profound Medical has entered a supply and distribution agreement with Cook Medical’s interventional MRI (iMRI) division to expand U.S. sales of its MRI-guided transurethral ultrasound ablation (TULSA) system for prostate disease.

Under the deal, Cook will buy TULSA-Pro systems from Profound at a predetermined transfer price and offer them through its Copernicus program, which bundles the iMRI Suite with compatible devices, training, and partner therapies. Customers buying through Cook will purchase single-use disposables and service contracts directly from Profound, the company said.

Profound’s own sales team will continue selling TULSA-Pro directly to sites with compatible MRI scanners, according to the firm. The agreement adds to Profound’s existing co-sales and co-marketing arrangement with Siemens Healthineers, which pairs TULSA-Pro with the Magneton Free.Max scanner. Profound noted it is seeking U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for that combination.
