GE Medical Systems reported three developments in its PET activities at the Academy of Molecular Imaging meeting this week in San Diego. The Waukesha, WI-based vendor has introduced three new radiopharmacy laboratories in its line of TRACERlab chemistry synthesis products, which are used in PET clinical and research radiopharmaceutical tracer production.
TRACERlab FXFDopa allows for fully automated production of the 18F-FDopa radiopharmaceutical as an injectable product, while TRACERlab FXF-E, and TRACERlab FXF-N allow chemists to produce a different compound by simply typing the compound name into the system interface, according to GE. All three can be connected to any cyclotron on the market, GE said.
The company has also installed its 300th PET system, which includes 100 PET-CT systems. The 300th system is a fixed GE Advance NXi PET system, and was installed last month by US Oncology at Northwest Regional Cancer Treatment Center in Niles, IL.
In other news, GE has developed a PET and PET-CT oncology image interpretation distance-learning program for physicians. The course offers case studies in oncology image interpretation, and is available over the Internet and on CD-ROM.
