Philips has received a $33.7 million grant from the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to develop AI-enabled robotic procedure automation for stroke care.
The company will collaborate with Johns Hopkins University and Boston University to develop technologies for remote-assisted and increasingly automated endovascular procedures on its Azurion image-guided therapy platform, Philips said. Johns Hopkins University will focus on autonomous endovascular device navigation, while Boston University will develop steerable catheters.
The technologies are designed to integrate imaging, robotics, AI-enabled automation, and smart interventional devices into a single clinical workflow, according to the company.
