Martin Pomper, MD, PhDSNMMI
Pomper is a professor and chair of radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he holds the Effie and Wofford Cain Distinguished Chair of Diagnostic Imaging and serves in the neuroradiology and nuclear medicine divisions. He is recognized for his development of small molecules targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), including the first PSMA-targeted PET agent approved for commercial use, Pylarify, and the first PSMA-targeted theranostic agents incorporating a radiometal.
The Cassen Prize is awarded every two years in recognition of outstanding achievement leading to a major advance in nuclear medicine science and carries a $25,000 award. Pomper is the eighteenth recipient since the prize was established in 1994.
