Pericardial Fat Necrosis

Clinical:

Pericardial fat necrosis is a benign condition of unknown etiology [1]. Patients present with acute pleuritic chest pain [1]. The condition is benign and self-limited [1].

X-ray:

On CT, the findings are similar to epiploic appendagitis- with an encapsulated appearing fatty lesion with inflammatory changes in the adjacent fat and focal pericardial thickening [1].
