ARRS awards 2026 scholarships to early-career radiologists

The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) has awarded 2026 ARRS scholarships to two early-career radiologists: Anna Sophia McKenney, MD, PhD, of Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Michael Craig Larson, MD, PhD, of the University of California (UC), Davis Health.

Each scholarship consists of a two-year grant totaling $180,000, funded through the society's Roentgen Fund, and is aimed at early-career faculty pursuing radiological research. The recipients will be formally recognized at the 2026 ARRS annual meeting in Pittsburgh, PA.

McKenney, an interventional radiologist, will use the scholarship to apply advanced MRI techniques to predict treatment response following transarterial embolization, with the goal of advancing image-guided and precision interventional therapies.

Larson, an abdominal radiologist and assistant professor at UC Davis, will use the scholarship to pilot image-guided correction of abdominal wall hernias, internal and hiatal hernias, and pelvic floor prolapses as less invasive alternatives to conventional surgery.
