The RSNA has launched its Imaging Sustainability Challenge in an effort aimed at advancing environmental sustainability in imaging while supporting patient care and responsible resource use.
The inaugural challenge, themed "Aligning Care, Cost and Sustainability," accepts submissions ranging from pilot programs and workflow improvements to broader departmental initiatives, according to the RSNA.
Projects may be in ideation, implementation, or more mature stages and can highlight demonstrated results or projected environmental benefits, according to the organization. Eligible categories include reducing single-use waste, improving scheduling and scanner idle time, powering down equipment when not in use, reducing repeat imaging, and identifying reusable or lower-waste alternatives.
