Beth Erickson, MD, has been elected president of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), one of five new officers elected to the society's board of directors.
Erickson is a professor of radiation oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she serves as chief of brachytherapy services, specializing in gynecologic, gastrointestinal, and eye/orbital cancers. She has previously served on ASTRO's board as Education Council chair and chaired the task force that developed the society's clinical guideline for endometrial cancer.
The other newly elected officers are Indrin Chetty, PhD, as Clinical Affairs and Quality Council vice chair; Kenneth Rosenzweig, MD, as Education Council vice chair; John Suh, MD, as Government Relations Council vice chair; and Gita Suneja, MD, as Healthcare Access and Community Engagement Council vice chair.
The officers begin their terms on September 29 at ASTRO's 68th Annual Meeting in Boston. Erickson will assume the presidency in September 2027.
