The U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has scheduled a public "listening session" on April 6 to obtain feedback from the healthcare community on the Health IT Strategic Framework.
The Health IT Strategic Framework will become the foundation for the updates to the Federal Health IT Strategic Plan, which identifies the activities necessary to achieve widespread HIT adoption. The plan will focus on 2011 through 2015, and will lay the groundwork for the period beyond 2015 to create a learning health system through the effective use of health IT, according to the meeting announcement.
The American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Board of Radiology (ABR), the RSNA, and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) earlier this month released a letter to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services stating the proposed implementation of the U.S. healthcare IT stimulus plan fails to take into account the needs of radiology.
