MedQuist ends AAMT line-based billing

Speech recognition provider and medical transcription firm MedQuist said it has eliminated the use of the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT) line unit of measurement across its customer base.

The Mount Laurel, NJ-based company said that due to its inherent ambiguities, AAMT line-based billing has been applied inconsistently throughout the medical transcription industry. Earlier this year, the AAMT withdrew its support for the standard.

The vendor said it will transition its customers to its DocQment Enterprise Platform as a verifiable unit of measure on its existing platforms.
