Varian to enter neurosurgery market

Radiation therapy vendor Varian Medical Systems said it has formed Varian Surgical Sciences, a new organization that will develop and market the company's x-ray imaging and treatment technologies for radiosurgical applications in the neurosurgery market.

The Palo Alto, CA-based firm estimates the market size for the technology at approximately $250 million. The company is in the process of building a marketing and sales staff for the organization.
