Plasmon launches archiving system

Data archiving firm Plasmon of Cambridge, U.K., has launched its Plasmon Ultra Density Optical (UDO) Archive Appliance at this week's Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) meeting in Orlando, FL.

UDO Archive Appliance is a preconfigured, network-attached data archiving system with a RAID-based front end, designed to work with hospitals' PACS and HIS systems. It controls the data flow to and from an integrated UDO library, and manages the prestaging of data from optical back to the disk cache. Its network interface is Gigabit Ethernet, and the system is offered in configurations of 1-19 TB. Plasmon UDO Archive Appliance starts at $25,000 for a 1-TB library, the company said.
