Unisyn invests in probe repair business

Unisyn Medical Technologies has begun an expansion of its ultrasound probe repair facilities and also added new executives.

The modifications to its headquarters in Golden, CO, will improve workflow and efficiency, expand capability, and enable consolidation of Unisyn's probe repair operations into a single facility, Unisyn said. The improvements will also integrate Unisyn's probe engineering and quality teams.

In addition, Unisyn is building a new manufacturing clean room and expanding its parts depot repair capabilities. This project will include the installation of new MRI and CT test beds, as well as enhanced mammography and ultrasound test capabilities. Unisyn plans to wrap up the improvement and consolidation plan by the end of June.

In executive news, Unisyn has hired Rebecca Whitney as chief marketing officer. Whitney, who comes to Unisyn after serving as director of global marketing at Covidien, will have primary leadership responsibility for Unisyn's sales and customer services teams focused on the firm's transactional business, including ultrasound probe repair and exchange. She will also have company-wide marketing and product management responsibilities, Covidien said.

Unisyn has also promoted James Ginther, who most recently served as director of supply chain, to vice president, probe engineering and operations. In his new role, Ginther will lead Unisyn's team of mechanical and electrical engineers focusing on continuous improvement and expansion of the vendor's proprietary probe repair capabilities. He will also manage all probe repair operations.
