Accuray and RaySearch Laboratories have inked a definitive agreement to expand their collaboration.
With the goal of accelerating Accuray's adoption of online adaptive radiation therapy, the partnership will combine Accuray's photon-based radiation therapy platforms and imaging capabilities with RaySearch's RayStation treatment planning and workflow software. The initial focus will be on Accuray's Radixact platform before extending to CyberKnife in the future, according to the companies. Online adaptive radiation therapy allows treatment plans to be adjusted immediately before delivery based on the patient's anatomy at that time, according to the firms.
Under the agreement, Accuray will purchase RayStation licenses with a total order value of $8 million to support commercialization, and the companies will jointly market and support the resulting offering. The collaboration will also draw on RaySearch's RayCare technology to connect clinical systems, and RaySearch will further develop its software to support the Radixact platform, according to the vendors.
