SNMMI: Jacene named president-elect

Heather Jacene, MD, has been named president-elect of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) at the society's annual meeting in New Orleans, LA.

Jacene serves as assistant chief of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, clinical director of Nuclear Medicine at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and associate professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, all in Boston, MA.

She said her primary goal in this new role will be to strengthen SNMMI as a valuable resource for all members. Jacene plans to create opportunities for members to participate actively in SNMMI and conduct multidisciplinary collaborations. She also said she plans to raise awareness of nuclear medicine’s value and break down barriers to radiopharmaceutical availability, reimbursement, affordability, and funding.

Jacene has held several roles at SNMMI, including chair of the scientific program committee and quality of practice domain chair for the SNMMI Value Initiative. She helped develop the Radiopharmaceutical Centers of Excellence Program and served as a director on the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
