
Lansing, MI-based Ionetix Corporation has launched routine shipment of astatine-211 (At-211) across North America to support preclinical and clinical development of radiopharmaceutical therapies.
At-211 is produced by irradiating a bismuth-209 target using an alpha-particle cyclotron and has a 7.2-hour half-life. Alpha emitters like At-211 deliver high-energy radiation over a very short range, which Ionetix said helps limit exposure to surrounding healthy tissue while targeting cancer cells. The company produces At-211 at its Lansing facility using a 30 MeV cyclotron.
Ionetix also supplies actinium-225 (Ac-225), another alpha-emitting isotope, to customers in North America, Europe, and Asia.
