Siemens Healthineers Molecular Imaging has completed a $43.6 million construction and renovation project at its PET Detector Center in Rockford, TN.
The project added 40,000 square feet (3,700 square meters) of new manufacturing space to the 97,000-square-foot campus and renovated an existing 7,500 square feet of the facility. The location serves as the sole manufacturing site worldwide for the PET detectors used in the vendor's PET/CT scanners.
The expansion is intended to accommodate rising demand driven by the growing clinical use of radiopharmaceuticals in theranostics, neurology, and cardiac imaging applications, and will support the launch of new PET/CT product lines in the U.S. and internationally, the company said.
The project is expected to create more than 90 new manufacturing, R&D, and management positions in the Rockford area over five years and was supported in part by a $930,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
