Perspectum's LiverMultiScan software helped patients better understand chronic liver disease treatment, according to a study published September 10 in the Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes.

A clearer understanding of the disease may help patients stick to lifestyle changes necessary for managing their condition, according to the study authors.

In the study, 101 patients with liver disease underwent MRI scans that were analyzed with the LiverMultiScan software, which provides reports from quantitative multiparametric liver MRI scans to help doctors diagnose and treat fatty liver disease, including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). After the scans, patients were interviewed about their experiences and their current standard of care.

Using a questionnaire, patients self-reported their understanding of their liver disease. Measured on a scale of 1-10, the understanding of their diseases increased from 6.28 to 9.22, according to the study.
