Brit adds to portfolio at RSNA show

RIS/PACS vendor Brit Systems showcased several new software enhancements at last month's 2010 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

WebWorks iPad Viewer allows users to view images, share reports, and deliver critical results on Apple's iPad, according to the Dallas-based firm.

The viewer, which connects to Brit's Roentgen Works PACS server, employs iPad gestures for selecting images or an image series from thumbnails, scrolling, zooming and panning, and window/leveling. Cine viewing and autosynchronization of images and series is provided, and users can also navigate to reports, worklists, and other additional patient information, Brit said.

In addition, the viewer can be employed for communicating urgent findings and discordance with emergency room results. Patients will also be able to download the app in the iTunes App Store, Brit said.

Brit also released version 4.02 of Roentgen RIS, which includes new patient management and scheduling features. Users can now enter patient pictures as an identifier, as well as insurance authorization and workers' compensation information, according to the firm. Configurable worklist color coding is also available.

The software can now also support double-sided scanning of insurance cards, provide warning icons on the schedule for allergies or other patient and insurance alerts, and include documentation of patient reminder calling, Brit said. New graphical user interfaces include extensive study history listings and HL-7 message management, according to the company.

In other RSNA introductions, Brit said that its Roentgen Works vendor-neutral archive (VNA) package now supports a Health Information Exchange (HIE) National Health Information Network (NHIN) gateway for patient and document discovery, document retrieval, and document submission. Brit has also added new capabilities for producing and acquiring continuity-of-care records.

Roentgen Works now also includes a master patient index for acquiring patient data within an enterprise or from an HIE, Brit said.
