M*Modal hires van Terheyden as CMO

Speech recognition firm M*Modal of Pittsburgh has hired Dr. Nick van Terheyden as its chief medical officer (CMO).

Van Terheyden previously was chief medical officer at Philips Speech Recognition Systems of Vienna, Austria, and also worked at SoftMed Systems of Silver Spring, MD, and Speech Machines. Prior to that, he was director of communications at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and he participated in the implementation of one of the first electronic medical records in the early 1990s, according to the company.
