Reuters links Chinese firm to Lexmark acquisition

A Chinese company that makes ink cartridge chips is negotiating to buy printing firm and software developer Lexmark International, according to an April 7 article from Reuters.

Lexmark announced in October 2015 that it was "exploring strategic alternatives," which most likely involved a sale of its hardware unit, software unit, or both. The company in February 2016 was reported to have received bids for its software business, but no deal materialized.

The Chinese company, Apex Technology, would acquire all of Lexmark, according to Reuters. Apex is working with a U.S. investment bank and already has relationships with Chinese banks.

Apex is based in Guangdong and makes printing cartridges as well as integrated circuit chips used in ink cartridges.
