Carestream Health will unveil several new products at next week's American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) annual meeting in Washington, DC.
The Rochester, NY-based company will debut its Carestream DRX-1C wireless, cassette-size detector, which uses a cesium iodide scintillator to enhance image quality and provides greater detective quantum efficiency (DQE) than the company's DRX-1 detector.
The DRX-1C, which is expected to be available this fall, is designed for all three Carestream DRX-based imaging systems: the DRX-1 system, DRX-Mobile retrofit kit, and DRX-Evolution suite.
Carestream will also show DRX-Mobile retrofit kits, slated to be available in early October, that can be fitted to Kyoto, Japan-based Shimadzu's mobile x-ray systems. The kits will allow healthcare providers to upgrade selected mobile x-ray systems to DR technology through the use of Carestream's wireless, cassette-size DRX-1 detector, Carestream said.
Beginning in September, the company also plans to support tube and line visualization and long-length imaging. The visualization feature is designed to create a companion image from the original exposure that enhances the visibility of tubes and lines in the treatment of seriously ill or injured patients. Adding long-length imaging will allow the automated DR suite to support various orthopedic, spine, and other exams, Carestream said.
In other news, Carestream said it will announce the availability of its latest PACS platform upgrade at the AHRA meeting. The newest addition to the PACS platform's 3D toolset is automatic abdominal and cardiac vessel segmentation, which uses algorithms to automatically locate relevant vessels and present clinicians with the ability to detect results, such as the extent of blockage in a vessel or the aneurysm size, Carestream said.
