CCHIT names commissioners

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) has named 10 new commissioners and renominated three existing members to serve on its 21-member board beginning next month.

According to the CCHIT, the commission board is made up of at least two representatives each from the provider, payor, and vendor stakeholder groups, and at least one from seven other stakeholder groups, including safety net providers, healthcare consumers, public health agencies, quality improvement organizations, clinical researchers, standards development and informatics experts, and government agencies.

The new commissioners are:

  • Richard Atkin, president, Misys Healthcare Systems
  • Dr. Andrea Gelzer, senior vice president, clinical public affairs, Cigna Healthcare
  • Jeffrey Hillebrand, chief operating officer, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare
  • Christopher Macmanus, senior vice president of information technology and chief information officer (CIO), Catholic Health Initiatives
  • Denni McColm, CIO, Citizens Memorial Healthcare
  • Dr. James Morrow, vice president and CIO, North Fulton Family Medicine
  • Dr. Jonathan Perlin, chief medical officer (CMO) and senior vice president for quality, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA)
  • Dr. Don Rucker, vice president and CMO, Siemens Medical Solutions
  • Michael Ubl, director or IT strategy and eHealth, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota
  • Dr. Andrew Wiesenthal, associate executive director, clinical information support, Permanente Federation

Three commissioners were reappointed to new two-year terms. They are:

  • Jane Metzger, research director, emerging practices, First Consulting Group
  • Wes Rishel, research director, Gartner
  • Dr. Andrew Ury, CEO, Practice Partner
