Medsphere to offer OpenVista EHR in NY

Electronic health record (EHR) developer Medsphere Systems has signed a contract to offer and deploy its OpenVista EHR product to Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) members under preferred terms and at a discounted price.

The contract is with Nexera, a for-profit consulting subsidiary of GNYHA Ventures. OpenVista is a commercial implementation of the VistA EHR system developed and used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in all of its facilities, according to Aliso Viejo, CA-based Medsphere.

The open source application offers modules for patient information management and health information management, as well as laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, mental health, and nutrition and food services. It also includes a clinical information system with clinical documentation, computerized physician order entry (CPOE), and clinical reminders, Medsphere said.
