RIS Concepts makes SCAR debut

A new RIS vendor arrived on the scene at last week's Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) show: RIS Concepts, a Miami firm that touted the affordability of its Web-based software at the Austin, TX, meeting.

The company's RIS includes a cross-vendor work list that combines data from PACS software from multiple vendors into a single integrated work list for improved workflow. The feature is well-suited for radiologists who read studies at multiple facilities, the company said.

The software also includes features such as real-time scheduling, workflow, dictation, transcription, patient demographics, scanning, billing, and HL7 integration into PACS. The Web interface provides communication with referring physicians, giving them access to scheduling information, real-time streaming audio clips, radiology reports and images, patient status, and other documents.

RIS Concepts licenses the software based on exam volume, allowing sites to have an unlimited number of users. The software can be installed for as little as $45,000, and the firm has 10 installations, the company said.
