West Virginia contract for Medsphere

Electronic health record (EHR) developer Medsphere Systems has signed a contract with the state of West Virginia to provide its OpenVista EHR application to seven state-operated acute care hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, and long-term care facilities.

OpenVista is a commercial implementation of the VistA EHR system developed and used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in all of its facilities, according to Aliso Viejo, CA-based Medsphere.

Under the contract, OpenVista will be installed at Welch Community Hospital in Welch, Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital in Huntington, the William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston, Hopemont Hospital in Hopemont, Lakin Hospital in Lakin, the John Machin Sr. Health Care Center in Fairmont; and Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley.
