Agfa buys Symphonie On Line

Agfa HealthCare has acquired French hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic patient record (EPR) software developer Symphonie On Line for 42 million euros ($51.6 million U.S.) in cash.

The deal marks a first step in Agfa's strategy of becoming a leading European player in the hospital information systems sector, said CEO Ludo Verhoeven. The transaction will have a marginal effect on earnings per share in 2005, and will be immediately cash accretive, according to the Mortsel, Belgium-based vendor.
