Philips to buy Israeli PACS firm CDP

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has announced a deal to acquire Israeli PACS software developer CDP Medical of Petah Tikva.

CDP was founded in 2000 and has 20 employees and close to 300 hospital and clinic installations globally. The company's growth in the last year came particularly from the Latin America region, Philips said. CDP is currently a subsidiary of medical device distributor Medtechnica, also of Petah Tikva.

Philips said the acquisition will complement its iSite PACS software, and will allow the company to tap into certain geographic high-growth markets. Following the close of the deal, CDP will become part of Philips Healthcare's Patient Care and Clinical Informatics business.
