European imaging display market on the rise

The European market for medical imaging display monitors produced revenue of $207.2 million in 2007, which is expected to climb to $520.4 million in 2014, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan.

While diagnostic displays experienced slow growth in Europe in 2007 due to radiology PACS market saturation, favorable regulations mandating the sale of 5-megapixel displays for digital mammography have led to high-volume sales in several European countries, according to the San Antonio-based firm.

Increasing demand for clinical review display monitors from private practitioners has also contributed to very high growth rates for imaging displays, Frost & Sullivan said.

Other positive trends include a growing demand for color images in radiology's daily workflow, as well as a steady increase in PACS installations across cardiology departments, Frost & Sullivan said.
