DR Systems, eRad settle patent lawsuit

PACS software developer DR Systems of San Diego has reached a settlement with eRad of Greenville, SC, in a patent infringement lawsuit.

On May 20, Judge John A. Houston in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California approved the companies' motion for dismissal. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

The deal leaves PACS developer NovaRad of American Fork, UT, as the only company still involved in patent litigation with DR Systems.

DR Systems initiated the legal action in September 2008 for allegedly infringing upon its patented technology designed to organize, process, and store images through a database that allows users to view those images on one or more monitors.

In November 2008, DR Systems dismissed image management firm Emageon of Birmingham, AL, from the suit.
