Philips updates Xcelera for cardiology, ships CT scanner worldwide

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has enhanced its Xcelera multimodality cardiology image management, analysis, and reporting system.

Xcelera R3.1 offers new telecardiology capabilities to support clinical workflow and help provide sharing capabilities for cardiac patient information, Philips said.

Telecardiology allows remote access to cardiac information, including image sharing with referring physicians and the ability to access Xcelera functionality through other applications, such as an electronic health record system.

In other news, the company has begun worldwide shipments of its MX 16-slice CT scanner. The MX system is designed for all routine applications, including CT angiography and virtual colonoscopy, with high-resolution scanning, shorter breath-hold times, and enhanced patient comfort.
