RIS/PACS vendor Brit Systems of Dallas has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for an upgrade of its browser-based PACS software.
Brit's Roentgen Works Web server features new server architecture designed to complement remote reading and distributed workflow environments. The FDA approval includes a multimodality workstation with specialized tools for viewing mammography studies. Fully DICOM compliant, Roentgen Works also offers permanent, replicated offsite storage of medical images and data in a DICOM archive.
The company plans to showcase the Roentgen Works PACS product line at this week's annual meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) in Charlotte, NC.
At SIIM 2009, Brit also will introduce WebWorks, a browser-based report/image viewer for clinicians and referring physicians.
