HIMSS buys Dorenfest database

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the Dorenfest IHDS+ Database and related business assets from consulting and market research firm Sheldon Dorenfest & Associates. The database profiles the IT efforts of all large healthcare providers, and is used by many healthcare IT firms, according to Chicago-based HIMSS.

HIMSS said it plans to use the acquisition as the foundation for its new HIMSS Analytics subsidiary, which will offer market research-based services to healthcare organizations.
