Barco launches new displays, products at RSNA

Image display and advanced visualization software developer Barco of Kortrijk, Belgium, has introduced the next generation of its Nio grayscale diagnostic display systems with the company's Aura technology, which now include MediCal QAWeb, an online service for high-grade quality assurance (QA) of PACS display systems.

The new systems are available in 2-, 3-, and 5-megapixel resolutions, and have image download speeds of up to 230 MB/sec. The Nio product line also features Backlight Output Stabilization (BLOS), which allows for continuous DICOM conformance of the LCD's light output. Due to an agreement with 3D graphics acceleration technology developer ATI Technologies of Markham, Ontario, Barco's Nio users can upgrade to ATI's display controllers as well.

The company has also expanded its advanced visualization package to include virtual colonoscopy and PET/CT fusion applications for its Voxar 3D suite. Voxar 3D ColonMetrix allows radiologists to interpret a 3D colonography study and generate a report within 10 minutes. Voxar 3D PET-CT Fusion allows radiologists to blend PET and CT studies, and calculate and display standard uptake values. Voxar 3D ColonMetrix and Voxar 3D PET-CT Fusion are not yet available in the U.S., according to Barco.
