Multimodality developer Siemens will tout the features and enhancements of its syngo Workflow informatics application at this year's RSNA conference in Chicago.

The firm will highlight new applications and tools in syngo Workflow, including the ability for a radiologist to forward acquisition protocols (such as pulse sequences) to selected Siemens' MRI scanners. syngo Workflow also includes embedded speech recognition and a clinical conference mode that can facilitate case discussion among radiologists and referring specialists.

The RIS features order entry/registration; supply, event, reaction, and patient tracking; paperless communication, interactive documents, user messaging, and online order requisition; technique capture and peer review; syngo Voice (an embedded speech recognition application) or digital dictation; PACS interoperability and image management; a mammography module; DICOM modality worklist and performed procedure step support; MRI pulse sequence selection and distribution; and management reporting and results distribution services, according to Malvern, PA-based Siemens.

The syngo Workflow software can run on server platforms including Hewlett-Packard's Integrity, IBM's AIX and pSeries, and RedHat Linux. Available worldwide, the syngo Workflow RIS is designed to support all sizes of hospital radiology practices as well as imaging centers, Siemens said.
