MedQuist

Speech recognition provider and medical transcription firm MedQuist will feature SpeechQ for Radiology, version 1.1, and its CodeRunner family of products and services that combine computer-assisted coding, remote coding, and professional coding services.

SpeechQ for Radiology 1.1 is speech recognition and document creation software that allows the radiologist to dictate, review, and e-sign their radiology reports in a single session, or to send the report to a medical editor. The system is powered by embedded SpeechMagic recognition technology from Philips Speech Processing of Vienna, Austria, that ignores nonspeech sounds while continuously learning from edits made by the physician or an editor, MedQuist said. The application is compatible with most PACS and RIS products, the Mount Laurel, NY-based vendor said.

Version 1.1 was released in July this year and is currently available in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Pricing for the system is based on a concurrent licensing model and varies depending on number of licenses required.

MedQuist will also be highlighting its CodeRunner Internet-hosted services that utilize natural language processing (NLP) technology. The CodeRunner services are currently available in the U.S. only and meet the coding requirements for radiology, emergency departments, and hospital health information management (HIM) departments, the company said.
