Acuo Technologies

At the RSNA conference later this month, Acuo will focus attention on version 5.0 of its DICOM Services Grid medical software.

The new release includes enhancements aimed at helping users better reconcile, distribute, and maintain image data, according to the St. Paul, MN-based vendor. Features include lossless and lossy compression quality via wavelet-based JPEG 2000 compression, support for DICOM storage commit as a storage class provider, and rules-based normalization support to clean and normalize patient data prior to storage or when integrating with other third-party PACS networks, Acuo said.

Acuo has also incorporated support for additional modality worklist tags per the 2005 revisions to the DICOM standard, virtual private network (VPN)-less encryption support for multisite customers, enhanced statistical support, and Acuo RIS/PACS Synchronizer (ARPS) to promote brokerless environments, according to the vendor.

Other features include conversion of HL7 reports to DICOM structured reports for storage and distribution, support for SQL Server 2005, and enhanced support for active directory users/groups for authentication, Acuo said.
