RSNA 2020 wrap-up: Missing the RSNA traditions
December 4, 2020 -- With RSNA 2020 just concluded, what were the dominant themes at this week's virtual meeting? The editorial team of AuntMinnie.com offers some of their thoughts on what was hot this week -- and what they missed from the traditional RSNA conference -- in this video segment.  Discuss
Social factors affect CT lung screening compliance
December 4, 2020 -- Whether individuals undergo CT lung cancer screening can depend not only on social factors such as unreliable transportation and type of insurance but also on a lack of awareness of screening recommendations, according to research presented Thursday at the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting.  Discuss
Elastography shows promise for rotator cuff tears
December 4, 2020 -- Ultrasound with a shear-wave elastography technique was comparable to MRI for preoperative evaluation of rotator cuff tears, according to a Thursday presentation at the RSNA 2020 virtual meeting. Elastography measurements showed moderate correlation with MR metrics in the 60-patient study.  Discuss
Federated learning may boost AI generalizability
December 3, 2020 -- Training deep-learning algorithms with a federated-learning approach could help address the challenge of improving the performance of radiology artificial intelligence (AI) software across institutions, according to a presentation in a scientific session at this week's virtual RSNA 2020 meeting.  Discuss
The 2020 PACSman Awards: Is that all there is?
December 3, 2020 -- What were the hot topics in artificial intelligence and enterprise imaging at RSNA 2020? The PACSman, aka Mike Cannavo, offers his thoughts, as well as the eagerly awaited PACSman Awards for excellence in sales and marketing at this year's virtual conference.  Discuss
Handheld ultrasound is invaluable for COVID-19 imaging
December 3, 2020 -- Handheld ultrasound scanners are invaluable tools for performing imaging in patients with COVID-19, according to a Wednesday presentation at the RSNA 2020 virtual meeting. While CT is the optimal imaging modality for COVID-19, radiologists should consider adding ultrasound to their pandemic imaging arsenal, according to a Chinese researcher.  Discuss
MRI leads the way in neuroimaging innovation
December 3, 2020 -- MRI is leading the way in neuroimaging innovation, according to three presentations delivered on Wednesday at the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting. Neuroradiologists from around the U.S. presented their clinical and research experience with MRI in a variety of novel applications.  Discuss
Radiology workflow a focus for Philips at RSNA 2020
December 3, 2020 -- A centralized command center that enables healthcare enterprises to more easily manage their far-flung radiology operations is the focus of the virtual booth at RSNA 2020 for Philips Healthcare.  Discuss
Deep-learning algorithm detects free air on CT images
December 3, 2020 -- A deep-learning algorithm was able to detect and quantify regions of free air on CT images, enabling patients with these critical pathologies to be prioritized on the radiology worklist, according to a presentation on Wednesday morning at the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting.  Discuss
Does RSNA 2020 measure up for vendors?
December 3, 2020 -- How well does the technical exhibition for the RSNA 2020 virtual meeting measure up to past in-person shows when it comes to the companies exhibiting? RSNA 2020 PREVIEWS
November 18, 2020 -- Artificial intelligence (AI) may again be the darling of this year's RSNA meeting, but there's more to imaging informatics than AI, of course. Our final stop on this year's Road to RSNA preview takes a look at what to expect in enterprise imaging, clinical decision support, 3D printing, augmented and virtual reality, business analytics, patient portals, and other informatics topics.
November 17, 2020 -- The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted CT's usefulness as a diagnostic tool -- especially in the early days of the outbreak, when laboratory tests were scarce and results were delayed. Attendees at RSNA 2020 will learn about research demonstrating CT's efficacy in COVID-19 patients, as well as its use in cardiac imaging and other important areas.
November 16, 2020 -- A number of exciting women's imaging topics will be featured at the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting, including developments in ultrasound screening and cutting-edge interventional techniques to treat breast malignancies.
November 12, 2020 -- In this most unusual of years, x-ray has once again demonstrated why it's still the most widely used medical imaging modality, some 125 years after that historic experiment in Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen's lab.
November 11, 2020 -- It's no secret that 2020 has been a challenging year, as healthcare providers around the world have attempted to cope with the global pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. But MRI has shown its value throughout the crisis, and attendees of the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting will be sure to encounter research that highlights the modality's efficacy.
November 10, 2020 -- It's been a big year for ultrasound, and the presentations at the virtual RSNA 2020 meeting are sure to continue that trend. The conference will cover a number of cutting-edge ultrasound topics, including the use of artificial intelligence and contrast-enhanced applications.
November 9, 2020 -- Welcome to the first installment of this year's Road to RSNA preview of the RSNA 2020 meeting. Although RSNA 2020 will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendees will find no shortage of scientific and educational content. And as in recent years, artificial intelligence will have a dominant presence at the meeting.
