Analogic posts higher Q3 revenues, flat income

Medical imaging and connectivity vendor Analogic of Peabody, MA, reported revenues of $91.1 million for the third quarter of 2001 (end April 30), compared with revenues of $75.1 million for the same quarter last year, an increase of 21%. At the same time, net income was down slightly in Q3, to $4.86 million compared with same-quarter net income of $4.99 million in the third quarter of 2000.

Analogic president and CEO Thomas Miller said he continues to be pleased with the company's performance in medical systems components, including its cardiovascular, CT, digital radiography, patient monitoring, and ultrasound businesses. However, the ongoing slowdown in the industrial equipment sector has forced the firm to focus on cost cutting, which should increase its competitiveness in the near future, he said.
