The product integrates data from most hospital and clinical information systems, and sends clinical notifications via PDA, pager, cell phone, e-mail, fax, or Web browser to clinicians, the company said.

Misys Radiology, the firm's RIS offering, and Misys Insight complement one another by enabling timely access to critical clinical information across multiple facilities. Diagnostic imaging personnel have prompt access to information needed to reduce potential contraindications, thereby reducing medical errors and improving patient care, according to Misys.

The Misys Radiology and Misys Insight combination enables the continuous surveillance of medications, exam orders, laboratory results, and other critical information. Combined with standard clinical alerts such as drug interaction and allergy checks, the dual systems enable radiologists to make real-time clinical decisions to optimize diagnostic imaging efforts and patient safety, Misys said.

The application supports the creation of customized notifications so that radiologists or diagnostic imaging personnel receive alerts considered valuable to their specific clinical practice. It also features vendor-neutral technology that collects HL7 messages from ADT, lab, radiology, and pharmacy information systems. Misys Insight provides a standard knowledge base of more than 550 clinical rules and medical logic components, the firm said. The product is currently available worldwide.
