Aloka launches new OB ultrasound scanner

Ultrasound vendor Aloka has received Food and Drug Administration clearance to begin marketing SSD-3500, a digital scanner targeted at ob/gyn and perinatology applications. The system is a lower-cost version of the company’s high-end SSD-4000 ultrasound scanner.

Wallingford, CT-based Aloka said that while SSD-3500 doesn’t have quite the imaging horsepower as the systems above it in the product line, the scanner is capable of 3-D imaging with DICOM compatibility. The system has tissue harmonic echo, high frame rate via multibeam processing, high-resolution zoom, and full digital pixel focus.

SSD-3500 also has a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter integrated with its digital beamformer for clearer images. Software includes the Integrated Data Management System (iDMS) for image storage and patient data management.
