It's been about six months now since the American College of Radiology (ACR) put out BI-RADS version 2025. While that's early for the new BI-RADS, it's never too late to talk about what the future could hold for breast cancer risk assessment.
Linda Moy, MD, joins this week's show to talk about how the future of BI-RADS could feature more AI. Moy is a breast radiologist at NYU Langone Health. She is also a professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and serves as vice chair for AI in the health system's radiology department.
Moy is also a member of the ACR's Commission on Breast Imaging and previously served as editor of the RSNA's flagship journal, Radiology.
Linda Moy, MD, talks about what led to her ECR 2026 presentation on AI potentially being integrated into future iterations of BI-RADS.
Moy also presented at ECR 2026 in Vienna, sharing her insights on how AI could further improve BI-RADS and predicting breast cancer risk. She discusses this and research being done in this area.
She also addresses patient attitudes toward AI in breast imaging and, what's needed for AI to take the next big leap into clinical care, and skepticism toward the technology.
