Radiologists at the University of Tokushima in Japan are working with 3-tesla MRI to deduce one of the hallmark signs of endometrial cysts. In other gynecological imaging news, researchers at the University of Kentucky in Lexington assessed the value of annual transvaginal sonography (TVS) screening for ovarian cancer detection. Meanwhile, a group at Taiwan's Taipei Medical University suggested that cervical pregnancies can be successfully managed with ultrasound-guided injection of methotrexate and potassium chloride.
The Women's Imaging Digital Community also features two articles on fibroid treatment: One discusses how to reduce radiation dose during uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), while a companion piece offers aortographic characteristics that can signal if ovarian artery embolization will be necessary. Both studies were conducted at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
