Newport Beach, CA-based diagnostics developer Mammogen has partnered with MammoLink, a Florida mobile breast imaging provider, to extend its KATELYN-ERIN trial of a blood-based RNA assay for breast cancer detection.
The prospective study is evaluating the company’s genTRU-breast assay in about 2,600 women, measuring its performance against biopsy-confirmed pathology, according to Mammogen. Through the partnership, the trial will be offered in communities across Florida via MammoLink’s network of six mobile 3D mammography units.
Mammogen is developing genTRU-breast to complement imaging, particularly for women with dense breast tissue, where density can make cancers harder to detect on mammography, the firm said. The assay has shown stage I breast cancer detection performance in earlier clinical studies, Mammogen noted.
