Oncology and medical device developer RITA Medical Systems of Fremont, CA, reported that it has begun collecting data in a radiofrequency ablation (RFA)-assisted lumpectomy feasibility study.
The procedures used the firm's investigational Starburst Assure RFA electrode to ablate the wall of the lumpectomy cavity of patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery immediately following excision of the primary tumor, according to the company.
